Stored in 80% new French oak before bottling, this is a massive beast. A brilliant mélange of blackberry combine with tar, graphite, anise and creme de cassis on the plate. Impeccable, polished and magnificent wine with a lifespan of 18 years". Crafted from 100% tempranillo, dark fruit rules the roost in this well balanced wine. On the nose macerated plums, black cherries and blackberries intermingle with sweet spices, black pepper, cocoa, vanilla and tobacco leaf from the oak, with hints of cedar wood, earth and graphite also coming through. The bouquet is really fine, speaking more of the terroir than its grape (100% Aligote). Crystalline purity yet with a little flesh behind. Becomes sharper on the palate but a question of youth. It's full-bodied, supple, generous, deep and round, expansive on the palate and framed by soft, fully ripe tannins and hints of mocha on the lingering, velvety finish.
