In a vintage characterized by significant heat and drought, Tenuta San Guido has once again proven why this estate is in a league of its own. This is a triumph of terroir and timing, delivering a wine of aristocratic elegance and surprising freshness that defies the season. While many 2022's from Bolgheri are opulent and broad, Sassicaia remains steadfastly classic. The estate's decisions to harvest early to preserve acidity has paid off distinctively. The nose is deep and introspective, offering a sophisticated blend of creme de cassis, wild blackberry, and dark plum, lifted by signature notes of Mediterranean herbs, cedar, graphite, and a touch of fresh mint. It possesses a dense core of fruit, yet it feels weightless and energetic, driven by a vibrant spine of acidity. Elegant hints of earth, wet stone and oak on the nose, reminiscent of chocolate powder, black elderberries and some mint after a little airing. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2028 Size: 750mL Critic Scores: 95 CT Region: Napa Valley ABV: 14.8% "We ferment our Chardonnay in new French oak barrels; it is then sur-lie aged for 12 months with weekly stirring. We choose the best barrels for the Finch Hollow, showcasing a full-bodied Chardonnay bursting with brioche and honeysuckle aromatics. The palate layers flavors of yellow peach and ripe melon with tropical fruit undertones; the textured mouthfeel gives way to a distinctive, lingering finish. The grapes for all Jarvis wines are grown on hillside vineyards, which were originally planted in 1986. The winery and vineyards are located in the Vaca mountain range, about 1,000 feet above the valley floor and four miles east of the city of Napa. The cool mountain growing region provides moderate temperatures for optimum ripening of the grapes." - Winery Notes

You can sense the array of exotic spices, mint, blue and black fruits, crushed rocks, black cherries and white pepper on the palate. Full-bodied and dense, the wine somehow remains light on its feet.
